∙ 12y agoThere is more rain during the wet season and so there are more chances of accumulation of water and so more chances of water-based diseases as the vector(carrier) has more water to live in. There is also more water for water-bred diseases to take place because of the increasing water to breed in.

∙ 10y agoIn rural area, you usually have poor sanitation. People do have opportunity and need to go for open defecation there. Flies and other vectors may carry the disease causing agent to the next host. Water purification and transport system may not be in good shape there. People are usually not so educated as there city based counter part. These are the few reasons for that water based and water-bred diseases are more common in rural areas.
