Sandy soil stays loose that is there is nothing in it that sticks the grains together that is water proof. Some soils have a lot of clay or other material that has the effect off sicking the sand together these soils tend to hold water for a longer time.

Sandy soils are free draining as there are spaces between the grains of sand that allows rainwater to quickly pass through.

What is the process by which tiny particles can pass through the cell membrane?

Small particles can pass through the cell membrane by simple diffusion. If the particles are water, the process is given a special name: osmosis.

Can soil particles pass into the plant through the roots?

Maybe because when the water is in the soil and is going through the roots up the stem some soil particles can go in the water and travel with it.

What is it called when large particles need to use energy to pass through cell membranes?

Active Diffusion

How can you separate soil particles from a jar of water without using any instrument?

Use a piece of filter paper !... The water will pass through the filter paper - but the soil particles will not.

Can soil and water be separated by filtering?

A paper filter will allow water to pass slowly through, leaving the soil particles behind.

Can soil and water be separated by a filter?

A paper filter will allow water to slowly pass through, leaving the soil particles behind.

What are the roles of an egg shell and membrane and how do particles pass through?

They're both there for protection. Gasses pass through the shell because it has microscopic holes - too small to pass even water. Gasses pass through the membrane by diffusion (after they devolve).

What soil- type allows water to pass through it fastest?

Loose and sandy soils allow water to pass through them faster as they have larger inter-particle spaces b/w particles of soil

Why does water pass easily through sandy soil?

Sand is small particles of solid rock, that don't have the ability to absorb moisture. The water runs right through it.

What can alpha particles can pass through?

Alpha particles can pass through very few substances. It can travel in air but has a range of only a few centimetres.

How much of water can pass through red soil?

Soil color has absolutely no influence on the rate at which water can pass through it. Red soils are red because a microscopically thin layer of an iron oxide coats the mineral soil particles. If the Fe oxide coating is on sand particles, water will pass through it quickly. If the Fe oxide coating is on silt or clay particles, water will pass through it more slowly, unless the soil has favorable structure. Take a sample of the red soil and wet it. If you can mold it and work it with your fingers to any extent, it has some clay in it. If it can be molded like modeling clay, it has a lot of clay in it.

How does bolus pass through oesophagus?
