Many Were named ad Many were falsely accused a 19 Hanged
I looked up the trial transcripts and they didn't have lawyers. The people arrested were tried in a special civil court and were questioned by the court. One hundred and fifty were imprisoned and 19 "witches" were hung. Giles Corey was pressed to death ( big rocks put on his chest until he died).
19 people were executed
It wasn't as many as they like to make you think it was. It was actually less than 30. <--- Partially true. From June 10th to September 21st, 1692, 20 people were executed, but several people died in jail. Some people were even left in the jails long after the trials, because their families coudn't afford to set them free.
First of all, a legal lynching is called hanging or an execution. And you might be referring to the Salem witch trials, during with 19 were convicted of witchcraft and hanged.
They usually hung, burnt, drowned, or cut them to death. EDIT: At Salem, they only hung the convicted witches. Burning was a Continental European punishment. Drowning was part of the water test and if you drowned you were innocent. And "cut" I can only explain as beheading. The only person accused of witchcraft to be beheaded was Anne Bolynn, and that was because she was convicted of treason.
The Pendle witches were a group of twelve accused witches from Lacashire in England who all lived near Pendle Hill. They were accused in 1612 and tried in Lancaster, with the exception of one who was tried and executed in York. Ten were found guilty of murder, one was acquitted and the last died in prison. The York trial was on July 27, with the execution the following day. The Lancaster trials occurred over August 18-19 and the executions occurred on August 20.
Between June and September, in 1692, in Salem Mass, 19 people were hung on the charge of Witchcraft. They were accused of Witchcraft. They were not the ones that did the accusing. Giles Corey was pressed death by stones for not pleading guilty to the charge of Witchcraft. Other people died while imprisoned.

142 people were legally accused of witchcraft during the Salem Hysteria. This count does not include people who were rumored by neighbors or relatives of being involved with witchcraft. Only a handful of these people were executed, 16 I think, a few with the money or influence to do so escaped town, charges were dropped against some and the remainder served time in prison but were released.
Off the top of my head... When prominent people in the Salem community started being accused by those vicious little girls they sort of petered out. Wikipeadia has a good entry under "Salem Witch Trials" if you want more detail.
