Aircraft were developed in the first place to accomplish a great feat in the world of science. Later on, militaries in the world decided that having a big ballon with a couple of guys with binoculars in it was a better solution to reconaissance that having a large patrol go out. Later, powered flight got developed and soon aircraft began shooting at each other, and they got developed into dedicated fighters and reconaissance airplanes. Even later on, they figured that having a big plane to lug mail along was better and faster than having couriers and ships do it, and these mailplanes soon develped into giant cargo planes.

∙ 12y agoTo kill people fast and dont you get killed. Also, if they went by foot it would go much slower and more people would get killed if on foot and faster in an airplane.
