We do not have records to tell us when the first medieval guilds were formed, but it seems they were established by glass makers and stone cutters. These guilds may actually have been holdovers from guilds of the Roman Empire. We know there were other guilds established after the fall of the Roman Empire, and some of these may date to the fifth century. I have read that there was a soap makers' guild in Verona in the sixth century.
im guessing they were called guilds
first guilds are jobs or a trade that a person specializes in. some examples are woodworkers, bakers, black smiths, brewers, and fish monger.
