Nobody with an ounce of sense enters a war enthusiastically. In December 1941 there was a lot of the population who did not want to be involved in W.W.2 and many who thought that the U.S. should be helping the nations who were fighting against Fascism. The attack on Pearl Harbor made it clear that the U.S. could not sit on the sidelines and ignore what goes on in the rest of the world as many wished to do, so the U.S. entered the war reluctantly, yet knowing it was on the side of right against wrong.
The reason the U.S. was hesitant about entering, is that they were just getting out of the depression, and they did not want a repeat of what happened to them after WWI, where there were massive casualties, and a debt to other countries.
No America were forced into the war because they got bombed at pearl harbour. They prefered to rahter profit from the war through loans to Britain instead of actually helping. Ironic how most war films show Americans as being heros and kind of forget that Britain even exists
The United States was not actively involved in World War II up until December 1941 when they were attacked by Japan.
Americans were reluctant to enter WW2 because they didn't want to become entangled in foreign problems
They didnt want to risk losing their forces against the powerful Nazis.
they were already in debt from WWI.
