The ancient tombs of Egyptian kings were pyramids. Egyptian pharaohs were first mummified, then put in a sarcophagus (a thing like a coffin) and then the more important pharaohs were buried in the center of the pyramids.
They buried them in tombs in the ground and rock-cut tombs
Some places where coffins are stored: graveyard or grave, mausoleum, earth, crypt, hearse, cemetery, or a funeral home.
Under ground tombs replaced pyramids
The pyramids of Egypt were built as tombs for the pharaohs, who were the rulers of ancient Egypt. These massive structures were constructed to house their bodies and belongings for their journey into the afterlife.

Sarcophagus are ornate coffin type boxes created from limestone and left above ground or placed in tombs. Three parts of a sarcophagus are the basin, the rectangle container, and the lid.

Pharaohs have been buried in difference places. Some were buried in tombs that were build into the ground and in mounds. Others were buried in monumental tombs, like the pyramids.

The Etruscans buried common people in well laid out cemeteries. Wealthy Etruscans could afford it were placed in stone sarcophagi. On occasion some were cremated. The tombs of very wealthy Etruscans were placed in above ground tombs cut from rock & contained many items that belonged to the deceased in case they might need them in an afterlife.
The purpose of the temples in ancient Egypt was to worship various gods and goddesses. Many of the temples were constructed using stone so they would last.
