the southerners did not have much of a reason to get mad. they believed that Abraham Lincoln would outlaw slavery, even though he had already promised to not interfere with slavery where it already exist. all that Abe Lincoln wanted is to stop slavery from spreading. the south just wanted to keep their form of living, and that's what they got; this is a classic example of people getting what they want, but they are too stupid to realize it and get mad for no reason at all. after this some of the southern states, starting with South Carolina, succeeded (left) the Union. this ended up in maybe the most pointless war in the history of wars
