Tudor marriages were arranged by the parents because they had to be married off before the age of 14 or they would have been seen as being too old for marrying off and therefore a liability at home - one extra mouth to feed and no extra income coming into the house.
It was only rich families that arranged marriages...it was a way of keeping wealth, or getting wealth.....especially if your were in debt and needed a rich wife
So that the families involved would benefit - whether the young lady loved her future husband was effectively irrelevant.
Marriages should be arranged if the two people involved want them to be.

Most are very much against arranged marriages, at least in the Western world.
In India the percentage of arranged marriages is higher then love marriages. Could be sixty percent.
Arranged marriages leave no scope for interfaith marriages so that means a particular religion propagates through progeny and the numbers are maintained
