It was the time of "Pentecost"... one of God's annual commanded "holy convocations" (commanded assemblies).

"...the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days... that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations." (Lev.23:16-21)

It had been fifty days since the Passover [the first annual holy day of the year] which would have initially drawn most of the people to Jerusalem for the feast, the day after Passover [Lev.23:5-6].

The Passover drew people from far and wide.

"...how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians..." (Acts 2:8-11).

The journey to Jerusalem for the Passover was a long one... and these people had stayed in and around Jerusalem through and beyond the Passover to be there for Pentecost before they returned to their homes and countries.

We know this because Peter [who cowered, ran and hid in terror from the Jews on the Passover] stood boldly before them on Pentecost and accused them all of having murdered their Messiah on the Passover!

"Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you, AS YE YOURSELVES ALSO KNOW: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, YE HAVE TAKEN, AND BY WICKED HANDS HAVE CRUCIFIED AND SLAIN..." (Acts 2:22-23).

"Therefore LET ALL THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, WHOM YE HAVE CRUCIFIED, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart..." (Acts.2:36-37).

Acts 2 is an account of the end of the Lord's springtime annual Holy Days, the time of the Lord's "early harvest" that year when Christ became "our Passover sacrificed for us" [I Cor.5:7]... which is marked by Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was given.

Why did Romans have Christianity?

Because Christians took the gospel to Rome. When the first gospel message was preached in Jerusalem there were people from many regions around the Mediterranean in Jerusalem to celebrate the festival of Pentecost. Many of these people believed the gospel and took the gospel message back to their home town undoubtedly some of these people were from Rome. You can read this in the New Testament Acts chapter 2, Act 2:5 And Jews were living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation of those under the heaven.

What is a good way to paraphrase - To act is so easy to think is so hard?

Many people tend to act without thinking. People act off of pure impulse. As if their actions are a second nature to them. It is difficult to think before you act. This is because so many actions don't require much thought at all.
