Why was the Nile river important to the development of ancient Egypt?

In ancient Egypt, the geography helped the people there live. There were many river systems such as the Tigris and Eurphrates. Those two are the main rivers. People decided to settle near those river systems because it would help their farming and livestock. Because of the many rivers of Egypt and Mesopotamia, they experienced many floods. Just like in Ancient India, Egypt and Mesopotamia suffered from these floods when it would drown livestock and crops, yet the floods helped them thrive. The way it helped was by depositing silt onto the land. This silt caused fertile soil for the crops to grow on. Egypt is right next to the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea so I inferred that a good part of Egypt was sandy.
