∙ 13y agoBaths were very expensive to maintain and build. The Romans, and many other peoples, liked being clean, and liked bathing in warm or hot water, so public baths were built. In Rome, the baths were for men or for women, not mixed. In other times and places, they were mixed, and since that was what people were used to, they mostly didn't mind.
