because the americas didnt like the slaves
They felt as if they were still treated like slaves.
African Americans were treated like dogs in 1866. The KKK and other white groups were all around burning their homes and communities. Slaves were still working on plantations and were technically getting paid. Newly freed slaves had to carry identification. Many southerns and northerners used to having slave labor had to start to adjust. Many slaves were sold back into illegal slavery.
Slaves were considered property. Many slave owners treated their slaves quite well because they were valuable, like a good horse. However, some owners treated them poorly because they thought they were just belongings like a table or stool.
Most of the whites treated the slaves horribly. Some treated them fair, but most treated them horribly. They weren't treated like the whites, there were basically treated like dirty rags. The slaves were taken away from their families and never saw them again unless they were freed or ran away. When slaves ran away the got caught. The slave owners killed the slaves by beating them to death.. Nobody wants to be treated like that. They even had little kids working as slaves, the kids only got two shirts a year, and if they got worn out they wouldnt have to go bare naked. Life wasn't easy as a slave.
Though technically they were free, there was anger and hatred directed toward these African Americans because plantation owners had lost employees and house holds had lost their slaves. African Americans were, sadly, still treated differently.
African slaves were treated very poorly on the slaver ships. They needed to keep the slaves alive--but otherwise, slaves were just like any other cargo.
The African Americans were treated like slaves. They weren't treated equally.
badly, they were put into slavery. the americans treated them like dirt..they got sent directly to plantations to become a slave. they were whipped, punched, slapped etc. slaves had no respect. it was not fair.
