The report state that some of the lifeboats were discharged half full. Many passengers as the ship listed more severely jumped in to the sea to try and swim away from the vessel because as something that big sinks it causes a water vacuum which would drag those nearby in. Reports state that some crew who manned the lifeboats did take on and rescue some people but some refused to go back as they feared that the those in the water would over load the lifeboats sinking them as well. It was also an issue of water temperature. At the time the water was somewhere near 5 degrees. People getting into the water often didnt survive more that ten to fifteen minutes as they suffered hypothermia. The report case logged some 315 bodies recovered nearly all were still on the surface and had not drowned.
Based on the 1997 movie (which was partially fictional), there were 13 people who survived and went to The Carpathia, but reality states that 710 out of 2,224 people survived. That is only 32% of all the passengers who were aboard. The second class had the most people that survived.
Titanic left southampton and a couple days later, another boat named 'Cherbourg' took passengers to the titanic , so more passengers boarded on Titanic. So it werent really visted by titanic or cherbourg.
People died in the Titanic disaster because there was no more time to get people into lifeboats.
The Titanic could of had more life boats

LUSITANIA
Yes
There was simply no more time. The capacity of the lifeboats is almost academic because the last boat was floated off, one could even say that Titanic sunk from under the last boat.
more than 100
300 and more
More than 3000men were employed during the construction period of Titanic(From 1909-1912). These men were employed to create the massive hull as well as many assembling of the mechanical parts throughout the ship.
After Titanic sank, those that were left were 712 people who made it into boats (and lived) and many more doomed people in the water.
