White seeds are immature and cannot produce new plants. Black seeds are mature and can grow into new plants. Both are edible, as they wouldn't have enough time to sprout inside of you, and the hydrochloric acid in your stomach would kill them if they did.

∙ 11y agowatermelon have so many seeds because it has the capacity to reproduce again and again and when the anthers pollen grain come and stick to stigma it will be large in number that's y when so many pollen grains come and stick to stigma they start to reproduce one by one and like that so many seeds develop inside watermelon.....

∙ 13y agoThe tiny white "seeds" in seedless watermelons are acutally undeveloped ovules or "pips." If you were to plant these pips nothing would grow because there is no seed inside. They are just the soft undeveloped seed coating of the sterile seedless watermelon plant.
