Did you check the throttle linkage or cable?
Just had this problem and it was bad coil pack so it was only running on 5 cylinders
the only way i can find to set mine is move the cable out a little.
have ur idle control motor checked if sounds like its not functioning its (aka) ICM
It should only take about 5 minutes. It should idle smoother and accelerate better.
yes but only if both manual or auto they wont interchange
Only if your brake booster has a vacuum leak, or the hoses going to it.
Idle air control(IAC) is located on the upper intake manifold drivers side behind the throttle body. That would be for the OHV engine only, I dont know about the SOHC motor.
Have the Cummins computer checked for trouble codes.
The engine control unit (computer) controls the idle. The only way to alter it is to either have a performance chip installed or have an engine tech alter your stock chip (may or may not be possible).
the only thing that would be diffrent is the overdrive.
need to have your idle checked, mine did the same thing, and adjusted the idle up and it stopped the problem, the only thing is you need a tack meter don't use the dash gauge, it may not be true
The idle could be a number of things. A basic tune up might be needed. They are also common to get minor vacuum leaks that will cause it to idle rough. The only light is a bad thing. It means you do not have enough oil in your motor. So when you are stoppong it is sloshing away from then sensor and you accelerate it gets back to it. Check your oil level and add oil or I would replace it because it probably over due anyway.
