I'm not a mechanic / technician but have you pulled the engine oil dipstick
up or out . I've heard you have to do that on some vehicles
A little oil will drop into the cup when you remove the used filter. There is a black drain valve under the oil filter cup. You can remove the drain valve cover and let the small amount of oil drain into a cup. Wipe the cup clean before you install the new filter.

The Intruder uses 5.3 US Quarts for an over haul, 4.5 US Quarts with Filter Change, and 3.9 US Quarts for an oil drain with out changing the filter. That is the factory spec.

Tools need are: 13mm wrench a set of oil filter pliers 5 quarts of oil Motorcraft FL820 oil filter drain bucket Crawl under the truck with your 13mm wrench, And oil filter pliers. Find the engine oil pan color of the pan is black. Remove the drain plug by turning the drain plug to the left. make sure you have a bucket under there that will be able to hold at least 5 quarts. Now look right beside the drain plug up higher to the top of the engine you will see the oil filter remove with your oil filter pliers turning it to the left. Let oil completely drain reinstall drain plug. and replace oil filter with new. Now open the hood remove the oil filter cap add 5 quarts of oil. start engine let run for 30 seconds check for any leaks under the vehicle check oil level buy checking the oil dip stick. if you cant find the oil dip stick you are a dip stick and should be changing you own oil.. close the hood making sure it firmly closed and your good to go!! have fun
Changing an oil filter should be done after the oil has been drained. Try loosening the oil filter with a chain wrench. If needed puncture the oil filter to create a shaft impaling it creating leverage. Attach a new filter, close the drain plug and refill with oil.
