The clutch is not adjusted correct, if adjustable, I don't know the year your working on. There is air in the system, needs to be bleed again real good.
Could have wrong throwout bearing too.
My daughters 1997 Saturn SC2 coupe automatic transmission has no reverse? what would cause this?? and how can i fix it without replacing the transmission.
until you face a wall.
A car without a reverse or neutral gear needs a transmission overhaul. It is possibly due to improper fluid levels, or broken gears inside the transmission itself.
On the vast majority of modern cars today it is impossible to actually shift to reverse while driving at high speed. Modern transmissions have an override safety device that prevents the transmission from going into reverse at any speed forward that would harm the transmission. You could put the selector in reverse, but the transmission would not shift to reverse. On older transmissions without this feature, you would probably destroy the transmission and possible have an accident.
yes, the 94 has 2 shifting solenoids, if you know that they have been removed from the replacement transmission you will need them.
The switch is under the center console, screws are on the sides, at the base of the shifter handle. Try using CNC Contact cleaner and adjusting the switch position before replacing.
yes
It's probably a worn or damaged clutch or hydraulic valve body inside the transmission.
Generally shifting from reverse to drive, while still rolling, is possible but not recommended. This places a lot of stress on the transmission and other components of the drive train.
While this is technically possible you cannot do it without completely destroying your transmission. Unless you enjoy buying new cars, don't try.
big trucks can have air pressure slow the transmission countershafts so you can get it in gear without grinding, but I haven't seen them used since the late 70's or so.
r u planning to add a side car.... i m planning but the reverse gear is my issue too
