It's probably a worn or damaged clutch or hydraulic valve body inside the transmission.
until you face a wall.
A car without a reverse or neutral gear needs a transmission overhaul. It is possibly due to improper fluid levels, or broken gears inside the transmission itself.
You can run an engine in/out of a car without a transmission. Car wont move and engine wont be mounted properly. So i suggest not to run an engine without a transmission unless you know what you are doing.
On the vast majority of modern cars today it is impossible to actually shift to reverse while driving at high speed. Modern transmissions have an override safety device that prevents the transmission from going into reverse at any speed forward that would harm the transmission. You could put the selector in reverse, but the transmission would not shift to reverse. On older transmissions without this feature, you would probably destroy the transmission and possible have an accident.
it sounds like you are low on transmission fluid check it when the transmission is warm
Generally shifting from reverse to drive, while still rolling, is possible but not recommended. This places a lot of stress on the transmission and other components of the drive train.
No cheap fix.
My daughters 1997 Saturn SC2 coupe automatic transmission has no reverse? what would cause this?? and how can i fix it without replacing the transmission.
Weather can occur without any warning; a traffic accident can happen without any warning; you could drop dead from a heart attack without any warning, etc.
While this is technically possible you cannot do it without completely destroying your transmission. Unless you enjoy buying new cars, don't try.
Without Warning - novel - was created in 2008.
No, the 1987 Honda TRX 250R does not come with a reverse gear. It is a sport ATV designed for performance rather than utility, and as such, it features a manual transmission without reverse. Riders typically have to maneuver the ATV manually to change directions.
