Your fuel pump may not be holding pressure,try turning the key on 2 - 3 times before you start the engine (this only works on vehicles electric fuel pumps).
If you have an engine with a carb engine get a fuel filter with a check valve and install it. That will keep the fuel from draining out of the carb while it sits.
