This is because of Microsoft's success in early days due to several reasons:i) Microsoft built its OS for IBM PCs which were in use at that time .IBM allowed reverse engineering of its machine and thus there were too many IBM clones at that time while the other major player namely APPLE Computers didn't allow it.
