I'm not understanding what you mean by 'create clips' after capturing from device? The program should upload the video(s) to the Imported Media viewing pane (or collection folder). From there, all you need to do is drag them down into the Time-line or Storyboard.
The Capture Video windows should show the device's (camcorder) details/information.
