I recently bought a new laptop that is running the Windows 7 (64-bit) OS. I used to print both sides with my printer (hp F4440). However, now it will not print properly. When doing so, it prints the pages in random order (page 2 will be printed on the back of page 5, etc.). Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

What is auto duplex?

Auto duplex is when you can set your printer to print on both sides of a paper without you having to manually change the paper to the other side. So, if I want to print a 2 sided document, first, I print the odd pages, then I have to turn those pages around & put the blank side through the printer to print the even pages. If your printer has auto duplexing, it would feed those pages through by itself.

Why doesn't the printer print two sided?

There should be a duplexer inside the printer. Install the duplexer and it will print both side of paper. NOTE: Manual two-sided printing can cause the printer to become dirty, reducing print quality. # From an open document, click File , and then Print .# Make certain that the HP LaserJet printer is selected as the printer name.# Click Properties , and then the Finishingtab.# Click on Print on Both Sides (Manually) to place a checkmark in the box.# To print click OK and then OK again.NOTE: Not all printer features are available from all drivers or operating systems. See the printer properties (driver) online Help for information about availability of features for that driver.# When the Print on both sides instruction dialog window appears on the PC's monitor, follow the instructions.# After side one has printed, gather the printed pages, turn the printed side down, and straighten the stack.# Place the stack back in the input tray. Side one should be facing down with the bottom edge feeding into the printer first.# Click Continue to print side two............................................................................................................................................................................

What feature on a printer must be enabled so that a printer can print on both sides of the paper?

First, for a printer to print on both sides of the paper without you having to physically flip it over after it's done printing on one side, it has to support Duplex printing. This can often be found out just by looking on the printer, Example: HP LaserJet M3035dn <-- where the d signifies duplex and the n is network. If there isn't anything like that on the printer, just check the manual :D Second, the printer driver on your computer has to have this feature enabled. If it is, when you're in a document and are about to print, a window pops up with the printer and some more into. Besides the printer name, in most cases, there is a button that says Settings, most of the time. Click that, and choose duplex printing. On many old style printers, it can say: Manual duplex, you have to turn the page. (Or something along those lines) For a more in depth walkthrough, read the manual that came with the printer :)

How do you print out homemade cards created on the computer with Open Office Draw and Open Office Writer?

You can print documents in either one of two ways... Either click on the printer icon in the task-bar (at the top of the document) OR select File, then Print (again from the task-bar)If you're printing on both sides - just make sure you feed the pages into the printer the correct way round (do a 'dry run' with some scrap paper first)

When is a dot-matrix printer used?

A dot matrix is known as an "Impact Printer" in which pins (usually 9 pins or 24 pins) are fired against an inked-ribbon (as used in typewriters). This enables the use of multi-paged, continuous, listing paper to be used in an office, and can be left unattended to complete long print jobs. A tractor roller, that has pegs that engage with holes punched both sides of the paper, will draw the paper through the printer. If a rubber roller is used, instead, standard A4 single-sheet paper, or two pages with a carbon sheet between, can be fed into the printer either by hand or from a paper storage tray.
