The reason is now simply timing, fans have longed for a remake and the games cult status made it a certainty someday unfortunately the original source code was lost in the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear plant tragedy that hit Japan without the source code the game is hard to port and yes even impossible to really remake without it simply being a whole new game at which point most fans would probably not like.One of the biggest tragedies of gaming history
