Why won't the brake lights on your 1991 Nissan Stanza turn off?

Nissan cars have 1 or 2 rubber grommets located under the dash next to the brake pedal. The rubber grommets get old and fall out from time to time. They need to be replaced. "cost about 3.50 each from Nissan dealer." hope this helps
