Either your ignition is broken, or (& this may sound really stupid) except for I've done it before. Make sure your car is completely in park. If not that, jiggle the steering wheel a little.
It might need a new battery.
If the battery is good and the starter is good, then you must have a wire disconnected somewhere.
your battery probably died
why after replaced the head gasket car wont turn over??jetta 2000 2.2l
Check the charge on the battery, it may be faulty even though its not old. If the battery is charged then the starter motor may be old, brushes wear out over time.
YOU HAVE TO TURN IT ON Actually, I learned this past week that if it is a gel type battery, you can get a false positive on the battery, so it looks like it is fully charged but actually is not. You can take the battery to your dealer to see if he can charge it or you need a new one.
Did you install a fully charged battery of the correct group size and connect the cables securely? Did you incorrectly jumpstart the car with the cables reversed and break things before replacing the battery? Did it turn over before you replaced the battery?
your battery is probably dead...., if when you turn the key and nothing happens at all...your battery is probably dead... Solution: Well, it turns out it was my ignition switch. That was my first guess. Im glad i went with it.
Check the battery first to see if it is fully charged. If it is, clean the battery posts off. After doing this if it will not start, then suspect the starter is defective.
Dead battery
My guess is that it did not charge because mine did the same thing so it probably did not charge.
Hit the power button.
