To remove the alternator from a 1989 Chrysler New Yorker, first disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shock. Then, remove any belts connected to the alternator by loosening the tensioner. Next, unbolt the alternator from its mounting brackets and disconnect the electrical connectors. Finally, carefully lift the alternator out of the engine bay.
