It could be that the ABS has been engaged. The release for it is usually a small "slider" tyoe switch on the shift console.
Just turn the key to the first position, ( not on ) and then you will be able to shift to neutral and start the car from there. Have the fuses checked and check the shifter sensor on the brake pedal.
Check to see if stop lights are working Shift interlock and stoplight circuit are common Check fuses Check alignment of interlock switch at top of brake pedal Try turning key to 1st position (unlock) shift to neutral to start and then shift to Drive
this happened to my 2006 Toyota highlander...look under hood...a piece of foam was stuck up under parking brake so it couldn't shift into park
check shift cable to transmission,it is either broke or stretched out !!!!
you probably need a shift lock its further down in the lever it prevents the car from going in to drive without the key and stops you from taking the key out if you forget to put the car in park
Not sure of the question, but if your car is less than 7 yrs old, apply the brake first, then you can move the shift selector.
Simply start the vehicle with the shift lever in the Park position. If you wish to go backward place the shift lever in the R location. When you're ready to move forward place the shift lifter in the D position. Only shift from park to reverse or to drive when the vehicle is sitting still.
Yes but avoid high revs. and better get that drive checked out Not exactly. it puts massive strain on your trans. it might blow up if your not careful.
this just happened to me i have a 2001 Honda passport the problem with mine was a broken transmission cable. we just had this fixed but until we did i had to push the button on the gear shift and lift up a little and i could put the car into gear ... good luck
shift!
brake switch gone bad car will not shift out of park if brake goes bad
People drive a manual car by using a stick shift to control the car.
