If you are not getting spark, the distributor is common to fail. It is hard to tell from the question if you changed it or just the cap and rotor. Also, do you have fuel pressure. That could be a fuel pump. If you have neither fuel or fire, that could be aa computer or wiring issue.

For some reason when you take a plug wire off while the car is running it blows the control module built into the distributor. You will have to replace the whole distributor to fix. I have had this happen twice on my 96 Cirrus.
you mean ticking, right? Had the same problem with my 97 with the 3.9. It was an exhaust leak between exhaust manifold & head. New gaskets fixed the problem.

Your Jimmy has a crankshaft position sensor mounted by your crankshaft pully in the front of your engine on the bottom. If the senor is bad your engine does not recognize that your engine is turning and will not fire the plugs. Try changing your sensor and your engine should start.

Check to see if the wiring is damaged.
Check your wire connections. If the wires are out of order, it may prevent the car from starting.
