Have you measured the voltage across the battery with the engine running? It should measure approximately 14v. If not you want to replace your alternator/voltage regulator. Check your shop manual to see if you can open the alternator and replace the brushes. After so many miles the brushes wear down, this is the most frequent cause of alternator failure.
there is a fusable link in the line between the battery and the alternator i replaced the battery and alt. but still wouldn't charge track the wire
your voltage reg is built into the alternator
there is no alternator on the 1992 Lumina its all electric, so there is no need for one.
The alternator on a 95 Chevy Lumina 3.4l is replaced by disconnecting the wiring harness, loosening the retaining bolts, and removing the serpentine belt. The alternator can then be unbolted, removed, and a new alternator installed.
NO.
have the alternator and the battery checked
Any alternator will charge at idle.
the regulator is getting bad in the alternator
Should be by the alternator in the back
The intake rear...next to Alternator...This is what I have found out.
No, Chevy Lumina Z34 ever came with a 3.7L engine. So probably not.....
I recently replaced the alternator on my 96' Lumina. 1. Remove the serpentine belt off the engine by locating the belt tensioner and removing the tension req'd to remove the belt. (there is usually a diagram in the engine compt. showing the tensioner location and belt path) 2. Remove required bolts (2) I believe... & elec. harness plug from alternator. 3. Replace alternator & reverse process.
It is below the alternator and kind of hard to see.
