Why won't my car crank?
It's a 1996 Chevy C1500 Pickup 5.7L Vortec. When I turn the key forward the dash lights come on, the stereo works, and all the electronics work like they should. This indicates to me that it's not a bad ignition switch. When I turn the key forward to start the car, it doesn't crank. What I've already tried: I can start it by bridging the starter solenoid to the + side of the battery. When I turn the key forward I can hear and feel the relay engage. I even pulled the relay and tested the circuit with a multi meter. The starter is brand new and I know the power wire to it is good. It has a solid ground to the frame as well. If the relay works and is engaged by turning the key, and the starter is capable of starting the vehicle when it gets power, what am I missing?
I should add that I've also pulled every fuse and checked them all. All good.

If your timing belt is broken you can definitly tell because your car will not do anything, wont crank, wont do anything. car will crank over but will not fire there is a plastic cover that can be removed part way to expose timing belt

You have changed the sp and sp wires and have a new bat yet sometimes when you turn the key the dash wont light and the car wont crank and when it does it sputters at times?
