maybe they are dead. maybe you need a new one. maybe they arent plugged in all the way
One side of your headphone(s) could be broken (muted).
You buy a cord that has the right size Male jack at BOTH ENDS. You put one end (doesn't matter which) into the iPod, the other into the Radio's Headphone jack. You can do this on newer radios, but I am not sure if you can do it on older models. It didn't work on my Stereo system, and it's not THAT old.
Try wiggling the plug to see if it works sometimes. The headphone input jack on the mp3 player is likely worn or damaged. Unless of course there's an option somewhere to adjust which speakers play. Or the headphone cord is bad and must be replaced.
It mean that maybe your eclipse mp3 player is broken and you have to a new one or it means its dead because of low battery
it only has one headphone jack, but you can use a splitter.
Many MP3 players will work in a car providing the vehicle has an AUX output. One would then need to connect the proper audio cable to the player in order for it to work. MP3 players and Audio cables can be purchased at Best Buy and Future Shop.
To connect an MP3 player to a Daewoo AGC-3106VA car stereo, you can use an auxiliary input if your stereo has one. Simply plug a 3.5mm audio cable into the headphone jack of your MP3 player and the other end into the AUX input of the stereo. If there is no AUX input, consider using an FM transmitter that connects to the MP3 player and broadcasts to an unused FM frequency on the stereo. Ensure to set the stereo to the appropriate mode to hear the audio from the MP3 player.
Sorry, mine did that. it's gone forever. I had to buy a new one.

If the setting button does not work and you can, return it or exchange it. If its an old MP3 player it may be time to upgrade to a new one.
First of all you need to connect one part of the usb cable (included) to the mp3 and then you will need to plug in the other end to a computer or laptop. Then, you will need to turn it on and leave it so that it charges. Two little red lights should come up and that means that it's charging. After two or three hours, remove the usb cable from the computer and mp3. Now, here's the tricky bit! You will need to put a CD into your object and then load all the songs on there. Keep the CD in there and then connect up your mp3 just like you did to charge. Then click rip which will download the songs onto the mp3 and then remove the mp3 player from the usb. You will then need to switch it on with the switch and then keep your finger on the play and pause button until you hear music. Then, when you do let go and it will stop but then give it one quick click on that button and it will work! Oh! Silly me! I forgot to mention that is wont work without the earphones connected to it! To turn it up or down press the + or - button. And there you have it! Please enjoy your mp3!
