Sounds like the PATS (passive anti theft system) I am going rounds with mine right now. Try leaving the key on for 30 seconds then turning it over.
hi i changed the battery on my Ford focus 1.8td and it wouldn't start and i thought the same as above but it turns out theres a problem with the fuel system may need a new pump.there are things you can check 1st.
1. the timing belt,if it is broken or stripped its teeth that would cause a complete breakdown of the engine. if its a diesal
2.check if diesal is getting up to the in jectors if not you have a fuel pump problem and the car would need to go on a diagnostic machine.
3.there are electical issuses that these have u would need to check the earths the earth wires in and around the enigine bay if and when they give trouble they can cause a non start allso. hope this helps
