Mainly because the C6 transmission only has 3 gears and no overdrive.
Yes, well I can do it on my car
aod stands for automatic over-drive and is a common ford transmission
check the trans fluid
Basically it is 5th gear in this transmission. With overdrive on, it will allow the transmission to shift to 5th gear, which will let the truck move faster with less engine rpm's. More fuel efficient. If you are towing or hauling a lot of weight (over 1000 pounds), it is better for the engine and transmission to turn overdrive off.
One of the reasons a transmission might not shift into overdrive could be a problem with the belt drive inside the transmission. Belt drives can be stretched over time. Another reason could be that the transmission fluid is low or very old or the filter is clogged.
when my transmission was no longer good about 225,ooo klm
The shift solenoids are on the valve body inside the transmission. They are one of many things that can prevent the shift into overdrive. The shift solenoids are on the valve body inside the transmission. They are one of many things that can prevent the shift into overdrive.
on yours shift knob that's when u shift from Park to drive in the center is a button when u press it once it its telling you that the over drive is either On or Off so all you have to do is press it again to get it in Overdrive or not in Over Drive
it could be the shift linkage being that both gears over there wont work
Seems like you press the over drive button to off. Also have codes 1130 and 1135 on computer.Could this have a connection?
E40D in most cases (over drive button on end of gearshift?)
i have a 200 f150 p/u if I put my foot into it it will accellerate and shift as it should until 60 mph. at that time it will over rev and I have to slow down and dissengage over drive.
