on the transmission there is a switch (on standard shift models) that activates the lights. Its on the side of the tranny. call the parts department and ask them to describe the location. Its a cheap part and plugs in with a snap clip on the side of the unit .... I did it on my Dodge ram and it was simple...

there is a dial pin on the left side of the ref counter turn this clockwise and the clster lights will come on then ,
Take it out of reverse.
check your brake lights if they not worhing replace fuse or brake light switch
there is a fuse dedicated to the running lights on the 96 Thunderbird. Check your fuse panel under the dashboard for the proper fuse and check to see if it is blown.

you drain your battery when you leave your lights on
my head lights wont come on ,,all other lights work ,,no head lights
there is a short in the relay for the head lights
wont crank or wont start http://www.kick-fix.com/nostart.html if it wont crank backup 1 page find no crank.
You may have a blown fuse.
check the wiring. its probably shot
