I just replaced the top on my '99 and the motor was located behind the plastic panel inside behind the drivers seat. It's below the 1/4 window to the left of you if you were sitting in the back seat behind the driver at your fore-arm.
look behind the glove box ? or on the passanger side by the floor no it is located drivers side up in dash. you can reachit fairly easy.just replaced mine.

I'm not positive, but most Ford trucks now have a bulb that can be replaced by opening the hood and coming to it from behind the light. The bulb receptacle usually twists one way or the other to loosen
