It's possible that the catalytic converter is restricted. A good repair shop should be able to find out.
The owners manual claims "under normal operating conditions" you should never have to replace the tranny fluid. but what is normal operating conditions? i would change it out every 40-50 thousand miles.

Converting from the stock auto to the stock AX15 tranny is no problem. It uses the same mounts and everything.

Loose transmission lines, blown torque convertor seal ,dried out pan gasket. where the leak is would help description of faul . i,e the front of the of tranny at the engine tranny mating surface or under the unioit itself or out of the cooler lines.
Check the linkage. If it's good your getting due for some tranny work.
