The headlights are a separate circuit from the others. Check the bulbs, headlight switch, Hi/Low beam switch and depending what year you have check the fuses.
its on the left turn signal switch, at the end is the headlights, then one in is the fog lights, you twist it just like you would the headlights

i found it to be the tail light harnesses go bad . a common problem with them because the bulb sockets short out.
It is probably the running lights that are working and the regular headlights aren't working because of the switch or wiring. TAke it to a garage.

More than likely its a short in the line to the drive lights it probably grounding out. Check the wiring harness from your lights into the engine compartment.

You have a dual-filament signal bulb somewhere with a bad ground. Turn the headlights and turn signal on. The bulb with the bad ground will go completely out at times, even though the headlights are on.
