Possible ground issue at the taillights.
just face away from the lights or tell them to turn the lights off

These days, the house lights and stage lights go down and music plays loudly. A hundred years ago the house lights went down and a curtain went up. Four hundred years ago, people would come bounding on the stage and start talking in very loud voices. Often something spectacular would happen, like witches coming out of the floor.

if you recenly replaced bulbs u may have installed them backwards they should be running lights and brake lights if this is the case they maybe installed incorrectly
brake light switch would be most common cause
Bad ground on the brake lite circuit.
fuse, bulbs
A bad ground wire will cause dim headlights, or will cause lights not to work.
You should consult the owner's manual, as this appears to be a fuse/electrical issue. You might also consider removing your foot from the brake pedal when driving at night. Happy braking!
i found it to be the tail light harnesses go bad . a common problem with them because the bulb sockets short out.
It may be wired wrong.
It sounds like a blown fuse or a bad head light switch
probably the fuse is blown.
If you have recently replaced the taillight/brakelight bulbs... you may have installed the wrong type. This will cause the circuit to cross and light up both filaments, which would look like a brake light.
I would check the rear bulbs. I just had this issue and it ended up my brother had used the wrong bulb, and odd enough it caused the brake lights to stay on with headlights. When headlights were not on and you applied the brakes the dash would light and brake lights worked. Strange, HUH? I must admit before this revelation, I replaced headlight switch and brake switch, with no avail.
