You changed plugs and wires and the problem is still there? Well assuming you did that already, My 91 cavalier did the same thing. It turend out to be the electronic ignition control module on the back of the motor. 20 bucks from a junk yard. Mine went a 240,000 miles. I just answerd how to change that to another person on here.
Bad fuel,clogged fuel filter,fouled plugs.
A fouled or worn out plug, a bad or loose plug wire. There is also a chance that internal engine damage (burnt valve), or even an injector that has quit working.
A fouled plug can be caused by many things. The color of the plug can give an indication of the problem. The loss of power is due to the cylinder not producing the proper amount of power. Check the plug wires, coil, and compression for that cylinder to give an indication of the problem.
A 1989 Chevy Cavalier will not stay running after it has started if the spark plugs are fouled, the fuel filter is dirty, or it has a vacuum leak. Taking the vehicle to a local mechanic or dealership can pinpoint the problem.
A fouled plug, bad plug wire or bad coil pack.
It could be as simple a loose plug wire or fouled plug. It will run on one cylinder. I had the same problem with my 1995 1100. It was a fouled plug. Replaced it and all was well.
I have a 1997 Saturn SL 1.9 with gas in the oil and 30 psi in #4 cylinder the other 3 cylinders are at 180
A fouled spark plug will make you lose horsepower if the plug is not producing a good spark. The other thing a fouled plug can do is if it is not firing right the fuel that gets into the cylinder dosent get burned all the way and it is then pushed out the exhaust valve and goes into the exhaust system. from there the fuel can get hung up in the catalic convertor and then burn in the convertor and then you will nedd to replace the convertor it also causes the unburnt gasoline to wash the oil off the cylinder wall and cause undue wear
check the compression. might have scored cylinder. also can be found by pulling plugs the scored cylinder is the one with the burned plug. fouled plug?
Probably a clogged fuel injector or fouled/burned spark plug. Less likely: valve problem.
It may be the computer. My S10 did that when the computer went out. If the check engine light it on, then this may be your problem, if not it could be a number of things ranging from a fouled plug to a clogged fuel filter.
The basketball great fouled three times in the game.
