If you can hear it breathing heavily or panting and its tongue is sticking out, then it is just hot. Its what my dog does too. But if it isn't hot, then I don't know, maybe it likes having its tongue out.........

All dogs hang their tongues out and pant for cooling; but indeed there are some dogs with tongues longer than their snouts so that they rarely pull them all the way in.
I've read all the answers to this same question and they do not match up. If your dog is obviously not hot and is sticking out their tongue at random times without cause it's probably because they are happy and or comfortable where they're at.
