this depends on whether the car is standard or automatic. If it's standard , then the clutch is not realising all the way and needs to be serviced. if automatic then worn gears or out of adjustments on linkage are possible
the air conditioner kicking on and off will do it too/;p
Yes, with the understanding that it will accelerate wear on the gun. +P+ is NOT recommended.
Usually either Park (P) or Neutral (N). Pretty much any car will only crank in those gears, and even if the car could crank in other gears it would probably damage or destroy the transmission
If you set the shift lever to "L" Position, you will see the number of Highest Gear that the Transmission can shift on you Cluster panel under the Speedometer, where is P R N D L, you will see L is highlighted and right of it you will see 3 ( L3 ), this mean that you gearbox will shift up to 3rd gear, and will not shift to 4th, with the buttons on lever you can select the highest gear, also will you shift to L, you can stop the can with engine, and will you go downhill and select a right gear, you can hold the speed without touching the brake too much and not make to car to accelerate too fast.Example for doing the the stop with engine: run the car for about a 50-60km/h, shift you lever to L, its automatically shift to L3, and turn it down, to L2, you will notice a light car slowing, press down the MINUS ( - ) key, to shift to L1 ( 1st gear only ) you will notice that car is slowing very good.
the linkage between the trans and shifter is what i would check first. also, there is a switch that prevents the car from starting unless its in N or P
In an automatic transmission car, the gear selector typically includes the following options: P (Park), R (Reverse), N (Neutral), D (Drive), 3 (Third gear), 2 (Second gear), and L (Low gear). P (Park) is used when the vehicle is stationary and the engine is off. R (Reverse) is used to back up the vehicle. N (Neutral) is used when the vehicle is stationary but the engine is running. D (Drive) is used for normal driving conditions, allowing the transmission to shift through all available gears automatically. 3 (Third gear), 2 (Second gear), and L (Low gear) are used to limit the transmission to the corresponding gear, which can be useful in situations like descending steep hills or towing heavy loads.
Because they stop to run RPM in the motor, that has a sensor in the motor.
This switch actuates the transmission to Winter or Summer mode. In Winter mode, the car starts from a dead stop in 2nd gear for better traction. In Summer mode, the car shifts thru the gears normally.
In Toyota rav4 2002 why the doors lock when shift the gear to P position?
Park gear
Your question is very confusingif you turn your car off while it is in reverse then put the car in park or neutral and start it it will be fineturning you car of while it is in gear is not going to hurt it but i would not do it while it is movingif you turn the key to start and you hear a loud whiirr and your engine does not turn over then your starter motor is not connectingif you hear a grinding/scraping noise then some of your pieces may be worn out or you might have put too may spacers in when the starter motor was replacedif you can start an automatic car in any gear other then park or neutral then you have a bad neutral switch and you need to get it checkedi hope this helps please clarify if you can just explain the situation the way it happened
