If the hamster seems to be peeing out blood and it only goes on for like 2-3 days its probably a sort of period. It happens to hamsters a couple of times in their lives. However, if it goes on longer, or it's butt seems to be bleeding all the time , not just when it pees, it could be a kidney disorder. Go to the vet if this is the case.

∙ 14y agoIf your hamster is a girl she may have a tumour on her ovaries which can cause her to bleed. I experienced this with my first hamster and the cancer was un noticable due to the fact that we could feel no lumps. However when she started bleeding, a trip to the vets confirmed she had cancer and had to be put down as it was uncurable. It is very sad but your hamster must be checked out by the vet to ensure everything is ok.

Do not worry. Unless your female hamster has a bad disease that you know of, nothink will happen. The hamster should stop bleeding and heal. If the female tries to bite him again and he doesn't defend himself or retaliate and she looks feirce and/or stressed, she may need some "quiet time". Seperate them for a few hours or until she seems calm. Some female animals bite or scratch males when they are on heat.

Then I would advise you to separte the hamsters. The wound should be o.k as long as it is not big and does not become infected. If you see any signs of infection you should take him to the vet.
