It wouldn't be much of a muscle car with a three speed and the five speed transmissions were not available yet.
That would be a car with a standard shift 6 speed transmission.
MANUAL TRANSMISSION because its more powerful and quicker then a automatic. Your muscle car will not have muscle without a manual transmission
It depends on the car and the equipment used to drive it. Most muscle cars lack a governor or a speed-control device, which allows the car to reach its max speed potential. The typical top speed of a muscle car during their prime era, was around 130-135mph. This is all the engine could push the car with the stock transmission without over-revving and damaging the motor. The cars were not meant for top speed as much as they were made for quickness and throttle response.
the muscle car
could be failing transmission
No, but it could effect how the transmission shifts.
The speed sensor can impact a number of things since it is linked to the transmission. If your vehicle has Anti-lock brakes the speed sensor is also linked to this. Relative to the transmission the speed sensor is used to control the shift points of the transmission and if the car does not shift properly it can affect the overall performance of the car as well as the longevity of your transmission and all of its parts. This is not something I would recommend left unattended. You should definitely have this looked at.
what car can i pull a 5 or 6 speed transmission from to put in my 1968 camaro? I have a 700r4 in it now and would like a Manuel in it. THANKS!!
A sensor in the transmission, measures the output shaft speed.
