You have a bad or weak ground, or the UPS is creating a magnetic field from the power supply in it that is being picked up and amplified by the PA system. Move them farther apart and see if the hum diminishes.

Some UPS's don't produce a clean sine wave output, causing electromagnetic interference (EMI). A distorted 60 Hz sine wave will have many harmonics that can be passed through to the PA amplifier output.

Your UPS may also have a bad filter capicitor.

AnswerI agree 100%, however, you could also try shielding your units. Try putting tin foil on the iniside of the devices. Make sure that the tin foil doesnt cause any short circuits.

ANSWER

DO NOT PUT TIN FOIL IN YOUR UPS!!! While it is true that your UPS will produce EMI, the power emitted is very limited by distance. Unless you are running the speaker wire through your UPS, and inducing the EMI energy, there will not be enough to reach your speaker coils. Placing conducting material inside electrical apparatus is nothing short of idiotic.

The more likely cause of your noise distortion comes from a UPS being a "switched mode" power supply device (if it is a small UPS) or a the Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) output devices of a larger UPS. Both of these devices cause distortion of the sine wave on the output of the UPS and, surprising to many, on the input (supply side) electrical system. More than likely the electrical system, located on the same transformer - possibly fed from the same breaker box - is carrying that distortion out to the speaker coil through the speaker system power supply. You could put a small isolation transformer feeding the power supply of the speaker system. This should work whether the UPS is feeding the speaker system or not...as long as it is in between the speaker system power supply and the UPS.

Once more...Do not put tin foil inside your UPS.

What is harmonic in ups system?

Harmonic distortion in a UPS system refers to the introduction of unwanted frequencies into the electrical supply that can affect the performance of sensitive equipment. These harmonics can cause overheating, premature equipment failure, and overall system inefficiency. It is important to select a UPS with low harmonic distortion levels to ensure reliable and stable power supply.

What is an offline ups?

In an on-line UPS the load is always being powered by the UPS and it is constantly charging so there is no switchover time. In an off line system, the system detects the lack of voltage and switches to the alternate source of power. Usually this would be a generator that would start after a short period of no supply voltage. Some critical systems would use a short duration direct system with backup generator kicking in after a short period.

Why does ceiling fan or cordless phone make humming or buzzing noise when is powered by UPS?

A UPS contains a power inverter, which converts the DC current from the battery into an AC current, which is what you get from a wall plug. Most likely the reason for the buzzing is that the energy delivered by the inverter is not /exactly/ the same waveform as a wall socket. It's current, which should be a smooth sine wave, is actually a stepped square wave. The buzzing you would hear is the change in each step. What would happen if ups system is not available?

If the UPS system is not available, businesses relying on it for shipping and logistics would face significant disruptions in their operations. Packages would be delayed, leading to customer dissatisfaction and potential revenue loss. Additionally, companies may need to seek alternative shipping solutions, which could result in increased costs and logistical challenges. Overall, the unavailability of UPS would create a ripple effect impacting supply chains and customer service.

Can a phone system be plugged into same wall outlet as ups?

If your phone system is a PBX then yes you can plug it on the same outlet where a UPS is plugged. You can even plug your PBX system to the UPS so when there's a power failure you can still have few minutes source to power your phone system.
