I'm giving one answer... and it I am not claiming that it is a definitive answer.

I have encountered Pagans who believe that spirits often reside behind mirrors. I am racking my brain right now to think of what culture this stems from. The general theory is, that the spirits of the deceased can inhabit the space behind a mirror. Keeping a pentagram behind a mirror is a way to ward off evil spirits - or in some cases, spirits altogether.

Again, this may not be the most prevalent answer - or even the most relevant to your question. However, this is one reason, which I have encountered, as to why one might place a pentagram behind a mirror.

Not all naturally occurring phenomenon can or should be interpreted as having supernatural meaning or origin.

My guess would be that at some point, someone in your household drew a pentagram on the mirror when it was covered in stream. If the mirror was not cleaned with a strong cleanser it will reappear each and every time the mirror streams up.

Why is a star not a star shape?

The correct term for a "star shape" would be a pentagram, for 5 pointed ones, hexagram for 6, and etc etc. I suppose it was nicknamed the "star" because of its points that streak out similar to a star.

How do you make a fake mirror?

It depends on the purpose. One way to make an object that appears to be a mirror for the stage would be to get some shiny aluminized mylar and stretch it tight over a frame. This would appear to be a mirror, but would be much lighter (and would avoid any breakage hazard).

What is the meaning of the pentagram tattoo?

The five or Pentagram has always had mystical meaning. It has been found scratched in stone age caves as old as man himself. It has always been with us. It has been closely associated with astronomical and religious meaning and at certain points in history with sinister doings. Babylonian,Sumatran and Hebrew writings and drawings were often embellished with the pentagram.According to the Greek philosopher Pythagoras, five was the number of Mankind. The five being elements of fire, water, air, earth and the spirit. The pentagram was a preferred emblem to adorn the jewelry and amulets of early Christians. They wore the pentagram as representing the five wounds of Christ on the cross while at the same time it symbolized doctrines of Magic, Alchemy and Kabbalah to non-Christian groups. In the time of the Greeks the pentagram was used to create closeness to the gods through ritual symbolism. In these modern times, the pentagram has been most associated with NeoPagans and Wiccans. In most Wiccan and Pagan rituals, its symbolic meaning is derived from Ceremonial Magic and protection. The five are the four elements ruled by the spirit. In many of these rituals the pentagram also symbolizes unity of the circle with the realm of the spirit and the elements. Many of the Founding Fathers of the United States were Freemasons, to whom the Pentagram is an important symbol. The five pointed star appears in much of the countries early iconography. The US flag, the Great Seal, and on its currency. It is even to be found in the Capitol, where the White House sits at the apex of a giant pentagram.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------A pentagram can also be used as a form of protection from evil, and can arise energy within to use in spellwork.Blessed Be, Mason_dragonA pentagram without the circle around is known for the 5 elements (years ago ice was considered an element) and a pentagram with a circle around means protection or if upside down the god of pleasure. The pentagram is often rolated to the devil because when upside down it looks like the god of pleasure, which had horns, pointy ears and a goatee. Christians disapproved of the god of pleasure due to the fact that they tried so hard to avoid certain pleasures because they believe once they've sinned their domed forever but Catholics had a different approach which was if they sinned they could ask for, forgiveness, receive it then be okay, so the Christians started saying the god of pleasure as the devil so that Christians would hopefully fear the idea of catholics or would not be tempted to join a new religion.A Pentacle is a pentagram with a circle around it, it has multiple meanings.1) The 5 elements: Fire, water, earth, air, and spirit.2) Inverted is the sign of the unelightened spirit being at the bottom rather than the top.3) Depending on how its drawn it can be for invoking (Magick rights) or for banishing (or protection) i believe drawing it widdershins (starting with the horizontal line) is for invoking and drawing it deosil (starting with the more vertical left line) is for banishing.4) An inverted pentacle is commonly used by satanists but originated with wiccans as a sign for the high priest or priestess.

The type of mirror that resembles the inner surface of a spoon is called?

A mirror that bows inward is called concave. The opposite, a mirror that bows outward would be called convex. Convex mirrors are used to to increase the field of view around corners and blind spots. Concave mirror serve no purpose other than novelty (making you appear thin or odd)

Why do objects in the rear view mirror appear closer than they are?

The light from an object falls on the mirror. If these rays were to be extended backwards then they would meet behind the mirror making the image also at the back of the mirror. We can't catch this image on the screen. The image looks smaller due to one of the laws of depth perception. This makes the image look even smaller.
