A puppy could be missing from the litter after two weeks if it has died. The mother dog will take the puppy away from the others.

How long does German shepherds keeps its babies?

A mother GSD will keep her puppies until the owner takes them away. If no one does, it will take longer, but after a few months or so, eventually the puppies will learn to function without their mother - and a time would come when the mother wouldn't want them around, lol

A friend is puppy sitting for the day and they did not leave puppy food and the puppy is showing its hungry. What is safe for him to give the baby-he thinks it is around 6 weeks or so?

if the pup is under 6 weeks it would be better to give it puppy formula and once it starts growing teeth around 8 weeks or older then you could start feeding it soft puppy food.

What happens if a rabbit has another litter before she's weaned her previous litter?

Hi It really depends on the age of the first litter? And age and health of your doe? Rabbits gestation period is approx 31 days, so worst case your litter are approx 4 weeks old when your doe is littering again. I would hope that your kits would be starting to eat solid and use there water bottle at 4 weeks. My best advise would be to remove the older litter, It maybe necessary to hand feed with goats milk or puppy / kitten formula The younger litters best chance is with your doe, hopefully if she is in good shape not too old and hasn't been over bred she should be able to successfully rear this litter herself.

How long does a dog care for a puppy?

A mother dogs cares for her puppy or puppies until 6 weeks, then they must be fully weened from their mother by then, but puppies should still stay with their mother until at least 8 weeks, we just got another litter of puppies, so I would know.

You picked out a Maltese puppy at 1 week old it was the first litter of a 5 12 lb female and a 4 lb male it was just one and he seems to be a little fellow is it possible he might be a teacup puppy?

Well for one...if it was the only puppy from the litter I would assume that he would be at least 4 lbs...like the father. Also puppies aren't supposed to be taken away from their mothers until at least 6 weeks, preferably 8 weeks so they can gain the nutrients and immunity from mom. He may be small because he was taken away from her so early. Sometime when a mom dog passes away or the pup is abandoned there are formulas for puppies so you can make milk for them so I suggest that you get a powder puppy formula from a petstore, Just Born is a great product it has colostrum in it which is what is in the mom's milk which helps build and immunity and proper nutrients which it has lost from being away from mom so early. Hope this helps. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE PUPPIES AWAY FROM THEiR MOM UNTIL 8 WEEKS! that includes one puppy litters! I would pick it out with it is supposed to got out with people which would be 8 weeks! You can't tell if it is just one week wait a couple of weeks and see how big he gets.

You are thinking about buying a German shephard puppy This puppy is from a litter of 11 Is this normal?

maybe not normal, but it shouldn't be any type of problem at all. it should be used to other dogs though, if you have more. that would be an advantage.

What type of food should you feed a Staffordshire bull terrier at 11 weeks old?

At this age it is most likely that the puppy would not be living with its mother anymore, otherwise it would still be feeding from its mother. At 11 weeks of age the puppy can start to eat puppy food that can be bought from vets or pet stores. It is best to not feed to puppy human food, but just the specialised pet food.

What age is a right age to train your dog?

The best time would be when your puppy is about 4 or 5 weeks old, or until the puppy is old enough to be away from its mother.
