Why would an abuser get in contact after 9 months of silence only to say how good the relationship had been when he is very committed to someone else?

When abusers temporarily run out of victims, they tend to "recycle" old victims. Either this new relationship is in turmoil and beginning to end and they are possibly losing control; or they are in need of seeing if they can still control you and where you stand now in life. I would say not to respond and give no information to your former abusive partner. God Bless
