It could be due to a Narcissistic Injury (Sam's site talks about this). You have exposed him/her and shattered the illusion of perfection they are trying so desperately to project. They will typically withdraw for a while when this happens.

I say move on and don't worry one more minute about this individual because he will only hurt you further and waste your time.
