The gas pedal is electronic or "on-the-wire" and is connected to the same circuit as the overdrive cancel button mounted the shifter. The button's harness develops a short over time from rubbing on the steering column due to shifting the transmission, therefore blowing the fuse and disabling the pedal. The fix is to replace the shifter (you can not buy just the button and harness) and repalce the fuse. I made sure to re-route the harness so that it would not rub anymore. Good Luck.

Yes, a 2006 model would have a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst, which is not the same as a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). US diesels have had DOCs since ~1994.
